- July 23, 2026: Lilly announced topline results from its TRIUMPH-2 and TRIUMPH-3 Phase 3 studies. TRIUMPH-2 studied adults with obesity or overweight and type 2 diabetes. This was a company trial announcement, not an FDA action.
- September 15, 2026: Lilly announced that it would present TRIUMPH-2 Phase 3 results at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) meeting. Lilly continued to describe retatrutide as investigational.
- September 30, 2026: The retatrutide symposium was scheduled for 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Central European Summer Time. This date was upcoming when this page was updated; this page does not report its presentation as completed.
The distinction: Results can inform a future application. Only an FDA review and approval decision can make an investigational medicine FDA-approved.
Is an FDA application next?
Lilly said in July that it planned to submit a Biologics License Application for retatrutide in the first quarter of 2027. That is a company forecast. It does not mean an application had already been filed or that FDA set an approval date.
